Free new utility runs script when client IP or name changes

Dannis Damen, one of the two DADE Power Tools guys (see their other tools) and an employee of Login Consultants has created free utility called ReconnAct! that runs on a Terminal Server and creates two environment variables: CURRENT_CLIENTIP and CURRENT_CLIENTNAME. These variables are automatically updated when a user connects from a different client.

To use this tool, you simply add a small 18kb executable called ReconnAct!.exe to the users’ or servers’ logon scripts. This process writes the two environment variables and updates them whenever one changes.

The best part is that you can also configure this tool to run a process (script, executable, etc.) whenever one of these parameters changes, so we finally have a way to update printer mappings when users log on from other workstations!

:mrgreen: also eines muss ich den spammern schon lassen… sie haben zwar kranke, aber geniale gehirne! nachdem sie durch das plugin AuthImage bezüglich “normalen” comment spam pech haben, geht es jetzt anscheinend in die zweite runde – und zwar mit trackbacks…
das ist mir absolut neu und ich muss mich erstmal auf die suche begeben, ob es bereits abwehrmassnahmen gibt – aber eines wundert mich schon: diese seite hat einen google pagerank von 4 und nicht allzuviel treue leser; wie ergeht es dann erst seiten, die aufgrund der popularität viel interessanter sein müssen??

und was mich noch verwundert: eigentlich ist es eigenartig, dass “normaler” comment spam verbreiteter ist; denn hat man einmal ein script um per trackbacks zu spammen, kann man es universell auf alles anwenden, das trackbacks unterstützt – es handelt sich ja um einen standard.
