Image via Wikipediaals alter lotus notes/domino anwender, admin und entwickler gingen mir im sharepoint schon immer die kleinen roten sterne ab die mir anzeigten, welches dokument ich noch nicht gelesen habe (und zwar nicht nur das – auch so dinge wie field validation wie ich heute nachmittag leidvoll erfahren musste); doch nun scheint es eine lösung dafür zu geben: Read and unread marks for SharePoint as a site column

I have always been disappointed that SharePoint does not provide an underlying technology for deciding if a SharePoint item has been read by the current user. To fill that need, this project is a SharePoint site column and some supporting technology to provide visual indicators in a standard CAML view for whether or not the current user has read a specific item.

SharePoint Warmup

Image via Wikipediadie meisten werden wohl das sharepoint warmup script kennen, das es mittlerweile auch in einigen variationen gibt.

wesentlich besser jedoch ist der sharepoint warmup job – es handelt sich um einen timer job:

The purpose of the custom timer job is to act as a replacement for the Windows SharePoint Services warmup scripts. Because Windows SharePoint Services is an ASP.NET 2.0 application, pages are compiled from the generic MSIL to native code upon first use. This is known as just-in-time (JIT) compilation. If not performed beforehand, it can cause pages to load slower the first time they are requested. For the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 beta release, Microsoft provided a script, known as the warmup script, that issues HTTP requests to a list of Windows SharePoint Services URLs to force the JIT compilation. Although it is not widely used in a production environment, the warmup script removes the initial load time of a requested page. This is useful for Windows SharePoint Services demonstrations and development. The timer job that is demonstrated in this article serves to replace the warmup script.

Image by mai lirol poni via Flickr… eine spannende kombination: iphone & sharepoint = isharepoint. es handelt sich hierbei um eine “offizielle” applikation, d.h. wird erst mit release 2 der firmware über den itunes store zu installieren sein. hoffentlich gibt es bald ein paar screenshots zu bewundern; die sollte es bald auf dem blog geben.

mit exchange sync und sharepoint verbindung könnte man das ding vielleicht sogar als business-handy verwenden? ich werde es hoffentlich bald testen können

Monk for SharePoint 2007

Image via Wikipediaein geniales tool – welches hoffentlich noch weiter ausgebaut wird, ist “monk for sharepoint 2007” – mit diesem tool kann automatisch ein html report über site collections erstellt werden; in dem report sind unter anderem folgende dinge enthalten:

– site web parts
– site features
– site roles
– site lists
– list fields
– list views
– list content types

ich finde vor allem die übersicht über die aktivierten features sehr praktisch

wo bleibt das Enterprise Search Feature Pack?

Image via Wikipediaes sind nun schon einige monate vergangen, seit der ms search server 2008 verfügbar ist – und ebensolange ist uns das “enterprise search feature pack” versprochen (siehe auch hinweis ganz unten auf der seite http://www.microsoft.com/enterprisesearch/serverproducts/default.aspx), mit dem auch moss features wie federated search connectors verwenden kann.

die beiden links auf der sharepoint updates seite (mit jeweils einem kb) sind nicht gültig, auch sonst kann man es nirgends finden…

“Release Management” – oder: was geht nicht mit Sharepoint

Für ein release management ist es ganz hilfreich, wenn man verschiedene dokumente in einer bestimmten version – der aktuell gültigen – in einem compound document zusammenfasst; im opentext livelink enterprise server funktioniert dies recht einfach:

bei einem dokument mit mehreren versionen

erstellt man eine „generation“

vergibt einen namen und wählt die gewünschte version aus

… schon steht der link auf die ausgewählte version als eigenes objekt zur verfügung:

diese version ist damit gesperrt und kann nicht gelöscht werden:

um nun noch mehrere generationen (also links auf eine spezielle version) zu einem „release“ zusammenzufassen, benötigen wir ein compound document:

und verschieben die generation in dieses dokument hinein; fertig

compound documents gibt es im moss leider sowieso nicht; aber man kann leider auch nicht direkt eine version eines dokumentes referenzieren oder gar eine version vor dem löschen schützen – schade eigentlich…

The Microsoft SharePoint Administration Toolkit contains functionality to help administrate and manage Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services version 3.0. This toolkit contains two new functions – the ability to perform bulk operations on site collections and a Stsadm operation to update alert emails after a Web application has changed URLs.
