ein nachteil im vergleich von exchange und domino ist die doppelte useradministration bei domino; zwar gibt es ein sync-feature von lotus, doch schon allein von der dokumentation her scheint das keine lösung zu sein, die praktikabel ist – ob das jemand im einsatz hat und 100% damit zufrieden ist?

Help needed: Error opening note unable to resolve the referenced note
Ich habe folgendes Problem bei knapp 2000 Datenbanken auf einem Domino 6.5er Server: man kann von keiner Datenbank eine Replik auf lokal erstellen; jeder Versuch wird mit dem Fehler “Error 4005: Notes error: Error opening note unable to resolve the referenced note” abgebrochen. Bei all diesen Datenbanken ist ein Single Copy Template in Verwendung.
Nähere Untersuchungen zeigten, dass es in jeder Datenbank ein “Replication Formula” Dokument gibt, welches in der GUI (über Replication – Settings – Advanced) nicht sichtbar ist; über NotesPeek ist es zwar sichtbar, jedoch kann es ebenfalls mit der Fehlermeldung “Couldn’t open note: Error opening note unable to resolve the referenced notes” nicht geöffnet werden
Mittels LotusScript kommt man ebenfalls nicht an das Dokument ran; der Code

Call nc.BuildCollection
liefert zwar unter anderem die NoteID des Dokumentes (also der Replication Formula) zurück, “Set doc = db.GetDocumentByID(nid)” aber nicht das Dokument (sondern “nothing”).
Der Versuch das Dokument mittels C API zu löschen a la
convertID = Clng(Val(“&H” & nid)) And &H7FFFFFFF
result = NSFNoteDelete( hDB, convertid, UPDATE_NOSTUB or UPDATE_FORCE)
resultiert in der Fehlermeldung “Error 17412: Entry not found in index”
Die Schablone zu wechseln, ein Compact oder ein Fixup bringt ebenfalls nichts; das Einzige, was zu helfen scheint, ist auf einem anderen Server eine Replik der Datenbank anzulegen – wobei das bei der Anzahl der Datenbanken nicht wirklich eine berauschende Option ist.
Die Frage ist also, wohin zeigt die “$NoteReference” (bzw ist ?type29? überhaupt gültig?) und wie kann ich dieses “Dokument” (also die Replication Formula) loswerden?
Windows Desktop Search: Add-in for Lotus Notes
bisher habe ich google desktop search auf meinem pc verwendet, weil es auch meine alte lotus notes datenbank in den index einbezogen hat; windows desktop search – laut diverser kollegen “viel besser” – war keine alternative für mich, weil es diese funktionalität nicht geboten hat; das ist nun anders – mit dem Add-in for Lotus Notes. also, somit habe ich bereits mein erstes todo im neuen jahr: google desktop search samt aller plugins deinstallieren, und windows desktop search installieren – mal sehen, ob es die richtige entscheidung ist
examine outbound smtp mails
im zuge einer fehlereingrenzung (eines sehr spannenden problems so nebenbei bemerkt) stand ich vor dem problem, dass das smtp gateway nach dem domino server nicht von mir betrieben wurde, ich dort also weder settings checken, noch – und das war viel wichtiger – mails dumpen und ansehen konnte. ich hatte also zuerst keine möglichkeit zu kontrollieren, ob das mail bereits von domino “falsch” gesendet, oder auf dem smtp gateway verunstaltet wurde.
doch es gibt einen sehr wichtigen ini key (den ich bisher leider nichtmal kannte), der domino dazu bringt, jedes ausgehende mail NACH konvertierung als file abzulegen: SmtpSaveOutboundToFile=1
funktioniert auf einem 7er server – sofern man auf der console mit “set config” arbeitet – auch ohne restart des servers. mehr infos bei ibm: Trapping outound SMTP MIME information

das domino user license tracking ist prinzipiell eine feine sache; doch eines dürfte ibm nicht bedacht haben (oder ist es absicht?): man macht das ganze ja nur, um herauszufinden, welche useraccounts nicht mehr verwendet werden – doch genau diesen view gibt es per default nicht:

es gibt eine neue version des Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Connector for Lotus Notes vom 1.11.2006; eine richtige fixlist habe ich nicht gefunden, aber schaden kanns sicher nicht 😉

Notes auf einem USB-Stick
“Nomad” nennt sich das ganze, und ist ein neues feature des 7.0.2er clients. doch das wirklich coole daran ist, dass ihr dazu euren ältesten usb stick verwenden könnt – denn laut ibm benötigt das ganze nur 256kb:
